"We are ordinary people with an extraordinary mission"
We are a group of activists made up of ordinary people who decided to carry out an extraordinary mission, committed to protecting and improving the health of our sea.
Our mission is to explore the seabed to remove all toxic or dangerous contaminants discarded by humans and at the same time record and catalogue these objects, in order to understand how humans impact the health of the sea.
We believe it is important to take action to preserve our marine ecosystem and we want to do our part to achieve this.
At Proyecto Pilas, we work tirelessly to raise awareness in society about the importance of caring for our sea and to carry out concrete actions that contribute to its conservation and the health of the population that makes up the Peruvian coastal communities.
Our team is made up of marine experts, biologists, activists and passionate volunteers. Together, we work to bring about positive change in the way humans interact with the sea.

Exploring the seabed to protect our ecosystem
At Proyecto Pilas, we carry out weekly expeditions to explore the seabed and recover objects that help us understand how we impact our ecosystem, while contributing to decontamination.
We work to raise awareness about the importance of caring for our sea and we carry out concrete actions for its conservation such as:
R emotion of hazardous polluting waste from daily use (batteries, fuel filters, fishing weights, etc.) that affect not only the sea, but also the communities that depend on it.
Assistance for animals in distress, such as removing hooks and disempowering turtles.
Assistance to the artisanal fishing community in the search and recovery of their goods lost at sea (motors, gear, anchors, etc.) We carry out these activities with our own resources.
Our activities include educational, experiential and interactive interventions, reinforced by seabed clean-up campaigns and research projects to better understand our ecosystem. If you care about the health of our sea and want to be part of the change, join us at Proyecto Pilas!
